Access for persons with reduced mobility
The closest public transport stop, Löwenbräu tram stop, is barrier-free for visitors with limited mobility. The tram stop is approximately 75 metres from the barrier-free access to Limmatstrasse 268 and approximately 100 metres from the main entrance to Limmatstrasse 270.
The entrance most suitable for visitors with limited mobility is the side entrance to Limmatstrasse 268, via a lift.
The entrance most suitable for visitors with limited vision is the main entrance to Limmatstrasse 270, via steps.
To access the step-free entrance from the parking lot, visitors should leave the courtyard via the same entrance as they drive in, turn left and left again to reach Limmatstrasse. The step-free access to Limmatstrasse 268 is approximately 100 metres along on the left hand side.
A staircase with 14 steps leads to the Löwenbräukunst main entrance (Limmatstrasse 270). The accessible entrance is at Limmatstrasse 268; all levels of the building are accessible by lift and all the galleries are wheelchair accessible.
Toilets are located on the 1st and 2nd floor (via steps) and level 1.UG (basement). A wheelchair accessible WC is also in the basement.
Why we need to act
Arts organisations, particularly those in the Global North, have a disproportionately large impact on the environment. We have to acknowledge this and take actions to change it.
Löwenbräukunst is Member of the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), an international network of art organisations committed to reducing the industry's environmental impact.
GCC’s primary goal is to facilitate a reduction of the sector’s CO2e emissions by a minimum of 50% by 2030, as well as promoting zero waste.
Location and infrastructure
We obtain 100% of our power from renewable energy sources. The photovoltaic system on the roofs of Löwenbräukunst produces more than 1,200,000 kWh of electricity a year, an amount that covers the needs of our house and neighbors.
For catering, Löwenbräukunst relies on regional and organic suppliers. With LOI bistro, the food on offer in house for staff and visitors is entirely vegetarian and vegan.
Wherever possible, Löwenbräukunst works with partner companies that practice sustainable and fair production methods.
For our Löwenbräukunst beers we work with the local brewery Erusbacher & Paul. During the construction of their new brewery, great importance was attached to resource-saving operating processes and energy-saving measures. As one of the leaders in the industry, over 99% of all beers are filled in environmentally friendly returnable containers.
Lockers of various sizes are located on the ramp between the inner courtyard and the building. They are free of charge and are at your disposal during our opening hours.
Dear Friends of Löwenbräukunst,
Changes are coming to Löwenbräukunst! The building at Limmatstrasse 268 will undergo renovations from November 2023 to November 2024. However, both the main and handicapped-accessible entrances will remain open.
Edition Patrick Frey, Galerie Barbara Seiler, Galerie Gregor Staiger, and annex14 will be leaving Löwenbräukunst at the end of October.
Galerie Barbara Seiler will soon be located on Rämistrasse, and Edition Patrick Frey is moving to Schlossgasse 5 in Zurich’s Wiedikon district.
In November, Francesca Pia Gallery will move into the spaces on the first floor at Limmatstrasse 270. WE ARE AIA | Awareness in Art will temporarily move to the space previously occupied by Edition Patrick Frey on Level A at Limmatstrasse 268 from November onward.
You can find an overview here.
Haus Konstruktiv will move to Löwenbräukunst in two stages. The initial move to Limmatstrasse 268 is planned for spring 2025. The final stage will take place in the spring of 2026.
